What I learned this weekend...

#1. I am very indecisive when it comes to choosing fabric... and I can spend hours at Joann's. However... husband did say I can do my new project in whatever colors I want (hello pink my old friend)
#2. I have too many pairs of glasses... Yes these were all on my night stand...Yes I didn't realize it until I went to bed Friday night... You never know which pair you might want to wear reading in bed ya know?
#3. TJ Maxx can have inspiring quotes just laying around that make you stop and think... who knew? Not me.
#4. Trying to recreate a breakfast you had on vacation makes husband super happy. Spinach, feta, and avocado scramble? Delightful
#5. Fishtail braids are the bomb yo- even husband thought it looked cool... and it didn't take 5 hours to do like I thought it would
#6. I am not the only one who is going to miss California.

What did you guys do this weekend?
I baked. A LOT. And went on nice long walks with Lucy and husband. And had cute friends over to play games and eat junk (that was my favorite).

It's OK...

Happy Monday my friends! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. Mine was too short (as usual) and I really really really don't want to go to Chemistry today. The only way I would want to go is if we were doing the diet coke and mentos fountain thing... which is awesome. However... we are not. We are doing salt solutions... and that's just plain boring.

It's OK...
-To not be friends with Monday. My birthday was on a Monday last year and I was ticked... this year it is on a Tuesday... Tuesday is better.
-To have a junk food day
-To be lusting after cute summer dresses and shoes
-That we are going to LA this coming weekend and the only thing I can think about is "sprinkles" cupcakes... I have a problem
-To watch Pride and Prejudice 1,000,000 times
-To clean your kitchen just to make it dirty again
-That I keep checking my emails to see if William Sanoma has sent my cookie cutter yet. Hint.. they haven't
-To never want to grow up
-That I am dreading the end of March when Devin leaves :-(
-To do your homework downstairs by the sliding glass door because the sun comes through and makes a nice toasty spot.
-That I don't want to finish my black dress. I just want to get started on my next project (something else anthropologie inspired).
-To love pink
(Shoes: Jessica Simpson. Skirt: J Crew. Top: TJ Maxx. Lipstick (that you can't really see): MAC Angel)

What's OK with you today?

Friday Favorites- Random

Meh... these have nothing to do with my wardrobe... but they are still favorites (and most of them are sewing stuff)...
I finally tried out my Harry Potter cup... and it totally works...

I busted out this pillow in like 10 minutes yesterday... It's mini... but still cute

I LOVE this! I can't even tell you how happy it makes me to see this up... I finally did a Valentine's Day project! Can I get a WHOOP!?

Ok you can't see it very well.. but this was the day I mastered "the fun bun". Hallelujah.

Oh and what's this? Oh that's just the dress I started sewing before Thanksgiving and got so sick of it I put it away until this week. It's almost done!

Ok ok one more... How cute is this picture of my friend Sarah's baby Adalynne and Lucy!? Can't even handle it.

What are you loving this beautiful Friday?

P.S. My other friend (who's name also happens to be Sarah)... Sarah Averett entered her adorable wedding picture in a photo contest! Go HERE to vote for her! They are the one's under the veil about to kiss ;-)

Awkward and Awesome!

(Shoes: Nordstrom. Pants: JCP. Tshirt: Marshalls. Jacket: J Crew. Glasses: Nicole Miller. Lipstick: NARS Schiap)
-We only have one outfit picture today. I have been trying to upload the pictures since 10 am... no such luck... One is all I got... boo.
-Walking onto campus and seeing the chick who wanted to beat you up in the 8th grade because you "stole" her friend's boyfriend... Sheesh... We need to move.
-That my legs were dyed blue from wearing my skinny jeans (and yes they had already been washed... twice!)
-When my chem teacher said, "Hey girls now that you know how you use a caliper you can see how your boyfriends measure up!" I don't think he meant it in a dirty way... but boy if those dudes in class didn't take it that way.
-Speaking of chem... there is this girl in my chem lecture who wears a raccoon tail... and it sticks out of the back of her seat.... Oh and did I mention that she also wears a Wonder Woman tiara? On a daily basis my friends.
-That we slept in one of the guest bedrooms last night because we didn't want to make our bed.

-That today after my workout I had a moment of "woohoo let me grab my bathing suit and let's go to the beach"... its a "good body day"
-Having Tuesday's and Thursday's off now!
-I am almost done with this stinkin' dress I started before Thanksgiving haha I'm over it
-It's GORGEOUS here today
-Planning things for Valentine's Day
-Not blow drying your hair... sometimes I just don't want to
-Getting emails from hubby throughout the day

Crack Cookies

I usually don't share recipes on this little blog {I used to} BUT...
This cookie is my favorite cookie in the whole wide world. No joke. And I am very picky about cookies... Ok ok I am extremely picky
Whenever someone brings us cookies {or there are cookies at a function of some sort}I have Devin taste them first and tell me if they are "worth it"
You know... I want the calories I waste to count for something seriously delicious
And these cookies hit the spot
Trust me... You need to make these ASAP
The recipe for these cookies is hand written on a beat up paper smudged with pb and little notes written all over it
I freaked out when I thought I couldn't find the recipe on Saturday... but alas husband found it... and I am going to share it with you {because I heart you guys!}
Oh and did I mention that you only get 1 bowl dirty for this recipe!?
P.S. These cookies have no other name but "delicious" except now my mom calls them "crack cookies"... and they are best right out of the oven with a big glass of milk {or almond milk in my case}

You'll need:
1 cup creamy peanut butter (I used skippy natural)
1 cup butter (room temp. 2 hours MAX out of the fridge)
1 cup sugar
1 cup "overflowing" brown sugar packed
2 eggs (room temp.)
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla (pure!)
2 cups flour
2 hand fulls oatmeal (BIG hand fulls)
1 bag Resses pb chips
1 bag milk chocolate chips (I use ghirardeli)
To make!
Cream together the peanut butter and butter until "fluffy". Add sugars, soda, salt, vanilla and mix. Add in the eggs one at a time. Gradually add the flour. Mix the oatmeal in first and then add the pb chips and chocolate chips. This recipe makes a lot of cookies so I like to made them big! Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. Be sure to leave them on the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. Enjoy!
{this picture just cracks me up! Look at Lucy's tongue! Haha!}
Now... Go make them! You can thank me later ;-)

Showing pinterest

Pinterest is genius. It's just like when I was younger and I would cut out all those pretty pictures from magazines and glue them onto paper... except so so so much better. Still trying to convince my mom that she needs to get on the pinterest bandwagon...
And yes... I did Valentine's Day... again...

Mutual Weirdness

(above photos are a few from our weekend)

Husband asks me this questionson a weekly basis...
Why are we so weird?
I think Dr. Seuss said it best...
“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.”
So my cute husband... our weirdness is love... and I love it.
My favorite things from this weekend
#1. Dressing up Lucy as a "hipster" even though she wouldn't sit still so I could get a good picture
#2. Baking fresh delicious cookies and eating them hot out of the oven in the kitchen with hubs
#3. Playing 10 days in Europe with our cute friends
#4. Pinkberry!
#5. This picture (below) that Devin took of my mom... because... well... we wanted to see what she would look like with long hair... see... I told you we are weird.
(had to show you this because we laughed for a good 20 minutes at this photo)

It's OK...

Hello again Monday. I can't say its good to see you- because frankly unless I am on vacation... you and I aren't really BFF's. Sorry, it's not your fault. You just bring on things like "another work week" or in my case today "school". BUT... today you do have one saving grace.... It's raining... And you know what that means... Hunter wellies.
(Boots and Socks: Hunter. Jeans: Banana Republic. Scarf: J Crew. Jacket: Delias)

It's OK...
-That the day I wore my wellies this weekend it ended up not raining at all... it was just cloudy
-That my second batch of dulce de leche cheesecake bars were not as good as the first.
-That I had husband read to me "The Berenstein Bears Go to School" last night because we were going through our books and I told him that my mom used to read it to me before the first day of school.
-To go to Santa Barbara and just window shop.
-That I ate my fair share of these delicious cookies this weekend. I have got to stop baking.
-To sing "happy birthday" to your dog. She is now 2.
-To come home from church and get into your PJ's... even if it is noon.
-That I feel too young to be a "leader" at girls camp.... wasn't I just in young women's?
-To still have CD's... I am no getting rid of N*Sync or backstreetboys thank you very much
-That I still look through our wedding pictures
-To want Zooey Deschanel bangs but still be afraid of the commitment. Yes... having bangs is a commitment.
-That I didn't clean my house this weekend. Sometimes having a messy house just means you made other memories... right?
-That I didn't wear red lipstick on Saturday. Husband said, "I don't like it because then I can't kiss you." With a comment like that the red lipstick stayed off.

What's OK with you today?

Firday favorites- Bows

As you may {or definitely} know... I have a thing for bows
Don't ask why... no one quite knows the reason
Perhaps it ebbed from my 5 year old days of learning to tie my shoes
Or maybe the cute little bows on my ballet slippers started it all
It could have even been the hair bows I used to take such care tying in my ponytails in middle school and high school
I even wore a bow on my wedding day {tied in the back of my dress}
Whatever the reason... bows and I are pals
So I thought I would share some of my favorite "bows" from my arsenal {and I appologize in advanced since you have probably seen some of these before but it just goes to show you that they really are favorites}
{Enzo Angiolini ballet flats}

{my favorite J. Crew tshirt. I had to have it because of the bow obviously}

{Tiffany & Co. earrings husband bought for me last Valentine's Day}

{Yes I know you have seen this... but I love it! Tiffany & Co. necklace... anniversary present!}

Oh yeah... and I really did do my hair in a bow {friends on facebook} here is the proof!

What are your favorite things today?

P.S. Happy happy happy Friday my friends! Thank goodness it is finally here!

Awkward and Awesome!

(Boots: Macys. Skirt and Cardi: J. Crew. T: Downeastbasics... AND milkmaid hair hehe)

-This morning after my workout Devin was still asleep and I came upstairs to our guest bedroom to kill a few minutes before getting ready and I heard this huge crash from downstairs and I immediately thought that someone had broken into our house and husband was sleeping through it so I called my mom freaking out because obviously I'm about to die... turns out it was just Lucy being crazy and knocking things off of our upstairs loft and letting them crash in our dinning room...
-When I told husband that he was crushing my hopes and dreams of becoming a professional "waiter in line" at Disneyland and he said, "Hey I pay for your hopes and dreams."... tuche my love :-)
-The text I sent my best friend Friday night when she asked what we were doing... We just ate dinner and now we are on a quest to find Batman....
-Hiding from people who knock on your door... All of a sudden you feel trapped and like they know you are inside because they have supersonic hearing and so you try not to whisper (or breathe) until they are gone. Phew that was a close one.
-How dangerous it has now become to sleep with husband. I have been hit/punched/scratched in the face 3 times since we have been married (once I year I guess). The first time he was playing frisbee (in his dreams), the next time he was running from a deer and turned around and punched it (it was my face that he punched) and most recently he was in a car that was rolling and he was trying to grab onto something which so happened to be my face.
-When your desk looks like a small pharmacy and everyone asks you "are you sick!?!?!?" nope... I just felt like being a drug dealer today... anyone need any dayquil?

-Sleeping in fresh sheets.
-The dinners I have made these last 2 nights (if I do say so myself). Fig glazed chicken and jambalaya... delicious.
-Snacking like a 5 year old. read goldfish and teddy grahams.
-Rain. It's really coming this time. Weather man promised
-Actually getting things done off of your pinterest boards
-Doing new fun things with your hair
-I watched An Affair to Remember yesterday
-Fuzzy warm blankies
-And thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!!!
