We're All Mad Here

Yep-we did it... we dressed up like crazies
but HEY its socially acceptable for Halloween

Admittedly... we did go a bit overboard this year
With the whole green contacts- the makeup... the whole sheebang
But it was a blast!

My favorite moments?
#1. Driving in the car and having people look at us- they would look at us- we would glare- they cracked up-we cracked up... awesome.

#2. Little kids who would either A. Recognize who we were and say "we just watched that movie!" or B. Tell us they were afraid of us but still wanted candy

Next year... I don't think we will be quite so fancy- after all... how do you top The Mad Hatter and The Red Queen? I don't think we can

Oh and my other favorite moment was when this little boy asked me "In the movie- don't you capture him?" and I said "Yes, that's exactly the point!" Muahahahahaha
Happy Halloween!

Hocus Pocus

I am DYING to watch that movie right now. I am so old I remember when that movie CAME OUT! I wish it was still socially acceptable for me to go trick-or-treating. Husband says no. I keep protesting BECAUSE I have a super cute mickey mouse treat bucket.... Meh I guess I am old enough to buy my own candy now... but still.

We are sooo ready for Halloween over here. Husband (if you can believe it) is even more excited than me. We got the finishing touches on his costume completed and we got our candy stashed, combined, and ready for those kiddos.
(husband's bow tie that I made)

I am kind of jealous of husband costume... because unlike me... he made most of it. I was the lame-o one and bought mine. He told me I couldn't show you his costume...
But I still took a few sneaky pictures (obviously)!
(sneaky sneaky costume part)

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I can't wait to hear/see what you all are dressing up as!
(yeah... I think this gives it away... haha!)

Awkward and Awesome!

Awkward:
- Mom "What kind of lipstick is that?" Me "Its M.A.C Red" Mom "Stripper red!?" no mom... no
- Checking my teeth every 2.5 seconds to make sure I don't HAVE lipstick on them
-Cling wrap...it is my arch nemesis. Each time I take it out I think, "and sooo we meet again"
-Finding a giant spider in the bathroom- those things are just creepy
-Walking on to campus when all of a sudden this gangsta started playin' "apple bottom jeans, boots with the fuuuuuur"... How did he know that was my theme song?
-When husband asked, "Is there such thing as angry bird elbow or texting thumb?" um... maybe?
-The fact that I went to J Crew this past weekend and I didn't find a single thing. I think I might be coming down with something.
-When I logged in to google this morning the first headline read "Mom banned from McDonald's"....

(I have to say this pose is a bit awkward too... perfect for today! ha!)

Awesome:
- The other day when husband said, "Your eyelashes look great today!" I think I have now found my new mascara
-That my red lipstick stayed THE ENTIRE day- amazing
-Halloween is only a few days away! And then... it will be November... sheeeeesh where has this year gone!?!?!?
-Husband has done the laundry every week since I started my new job. He is fantastic
-Pinterest
-That it is actually starting to feel like FALL here in California... thanks October
-My insanity workouts. Still goin' strong!
-Sewing lessons!
-And as always... tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!!!

10 random things about me

#1. I can't eat anything warmed up. In fact I don't like left overs at all. I think food taste differently when it is re-heated. I rarely use my microwave unless I am melting something.
#2. I eat the crunchy parts off of popcorn FIRST and then the soft parts... my favorites are the ones that look like an octopus-you know the ones that have the soft part on top and the crunchies on the bottom... Its another weird family thing
#3. All of my shoes don't fit into the shoe cubbies my husband built for me- in fact, when we were dating I told him that I didn't think we could ever share a closet. He just recently "moved in" to our walk-in closet (fear not we are still using the 3 other closets we have in our home).
#4. I used to be in band. I played the flute. This boy in one of my classes made an American Pie (movie) reference and that was all over for me.

#5. I actually enjoy math and science - I know I know I'm crazy right? My MATH teacher even called me a nerd the other day. I suppose that makes it official.
#6. My not-so-uncommon hidden talents are; opening a starburst in my mouth, tying a cherry stem into a knot in my mouth, touches my nose with my tongue and... yeah that's about it
#7. I HAVE to have a fan going when I sleep, and also I glass of water, and I watch jeopardy... and sometimes wheel of fortune... I have this feeling my 80 year old tendencies are a little premature.
#8. I went to middle school with Zac Efron (some of you may already know this) but what you probably DON'T know is that we were in this lame play together called "The Nifty 50s" and he was my love interest. And one time when I asked him if he had ever kissed a girl he said, "No, I have my whole life to do that" it was pretty profound (haha)
#9. I know Disneyland like the back of my hand. I don't think I have ever used a map there. So if anyone wants to go... let me know. My life ambition after all is to be a professional waiter-in-line-at-Disney.
#10. I crochet... see I told you I am fast approaching 80 years old.

Words with friends

This is my friend Shawna. Other than Devin and Lucy- I think I reference her most (ok ok and maybe my mom). Shawna and I have been friends since High School when we used to call each other "Whitney 'Frickin' Wilson" and "Shawna 'Frickin' Stackhouse"- luckily we are married and dropped our middle names of "frickin".
It was with Shawna that I ran track and decorated tshirts for school events (and many other random HS memories). I even remember the day (out junior year) she told me she had a crush on her now HUSBAND!
We also decided to take a kickboxing class together our first semester at J.C. because we were determined not to gain the freshman 15... but we dropped that lame-o class. I remember one day we were getting ready and Shawna said "Its your birthday- we should NOT being going to this stupid class. Lets go get something to eat!" And we did.
Que this text I got from Shawna today. "I'm at the gym watching food network (bad idea) but I digress. Paula Deen is making a Halloween inspired dinner its pretty awesome... Paula just dressed up as one of those inflatable things but a ballerina and she's all huge and eating cupcakes it was so funny."
I love this because it is probably what I would have been doing at the gym AND what I would have texted her about... and I know this because we have done it before
That is one of the reasons I love her
Shawna and I are so alike sometimes its ridiculous
And I am so lucky to have her as a friend
And I am lucky that she was willing to take pictures of my outfit ha!

Francisco- That's fun to say...

This weekend the hubs and I took a little adventure to San Francisco
I was a little bummed that I hadn't thought to
A. Eat Rice-a-roni
or
B. Wear flowers in my hair
I hear those are traditions
We DID however, walk through China Town, Fisherman's Warf, Ghirardelli square, Union Square, Pier 39... some wiiiiiiiindy street that I can't remember the name of... Lom-something-or-other (I was a little annoyed at the hill I had to climb just to see a STREET) but it was worth it when we got to the top
We ate at Boudin's which has some pretty good sour-dough bread (the clam chowder is better in Pismo Beach if you ask me) AND husband and I found the perfect combo for us... A North Face right above a Coach store

We also went to watch Stanford vs. Washington. I have to say I was a little preoccupied critiquing the Udub cheerleaders- but Stanford whooped their bootays. And husband let me eat Red Vines for dinner (trust me I had a good reason).
(my favorite moment of the game- the players took a knee and prayed. I. LOVE. IT)

Always fun adventures to be had with us Zufelt's ;-)

Things I learned on this trip
#1. Always bring a hair dryer even though husband tells you the hotel will have one (hence the ever present side braid)
#2. Don't wear TOMS to walk around a CITY (duh Whit)
#3. Its OK to eat pumpkin spice caramel chocolates in the a.m (we only had one) and have red vines for dinner on a "vacation"

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well

Oh the differences between men and women (haha!) My acessory? Something cute and girly that MATCHES what I have. His acessory? Something cool and techy and multipurpose.
